Hunkydory*paper products was conceived on Mother's Day 2001. When Stephen Shearer was looking for the perfect card to express the love and affection his pets – Isabaella, Mr. Chang, Ming, Salvador, Truman and Gill – felt for their "mother", Peggy Dial. Coming up empty-handed at local card shops across town, Stephen got creative and made a card of his own. That morning Stephen and Peggy decided to start a company dedicated to "recognizing the bond between people and the pets they love." In August of that same year, Hunkydory *paper products went to market with B&W photojournalistic greeting cards, pet announcements and full color Holiday cards. Since, the company has continued to expand its inventory with new gift products, as well as new greeting cards. Shearer and Dial say the company is about representing the real joys and sorrows of living with a pet. "Our inspiration comes daily from 3 cats, 2 dogs and goldfish. All of whom we are lucky to have in our lives", says Dial.
